On the positive side, I've made some progress.  Did some reading.

Slowly, some of this stuff is sinking in. I have logging working the way 
I'd like. (Not the hokey way I showed everyone.) Used a dictionary for 
the first time. I'll pass the dictionary to my app.

Tonight I ran my wx app on my windoze machine (app developed on linux) 
and it ran without a hitch, although the tooltips didn't look the same.  
I was all giggly it ran with no modifications - might not be a big deal 
to anyone else, but it sure was nice to see.

Now to figure out how to make my procedural code be more oop-like.  I 
can definitely see some spots that could be 'easily' ported, the others, 
hmm, I've got to think about it.  Not so easy thinking this way for me...
